The Department has three locations: a main one located at the School of Engineering, and two departmental sections located at the School of Higher Polytechnic Studies in Algeciras and at the School of Marine Engineering, Nautical Sciences, and Radioelectronics located at the Andalusian Center for Marine Studies (CASEM) of the University of Cadiz.

Currently, the Department is affiliated with four areas of knowledge: Architecture and Computer Technology (035), Electronics (250), Systems and Automation Engineering (520), and Electronic Technology (785).

The coordinators of the knowledge areas are:
